Our Service:

Children and Family Services

Across our children, young people, family and education services we provide mental, emotional, social, and practical care and support.

We ensure that vulnerable children have their voices heard; advocate for their rights and help make positive changes to their lives. VSA is helping children and families to thrive.

We support children from birth into adulthood and across all of our services, we help children and young people gain confidence and independence so that they can realise their potential plus lead happy and healthy lives.

Our work focuses on providing the foundations that a child and their family need to thrive. We support children and families living with a wide range of issues such as poverty, abuse, and difficult behaviours; through to giving parents the support and information they need to respond and care for their child's needs.

A core focus of our work is supporting children, and their families, who are living with additional support needs (ASN).

All children and young people need support to learn, however, some children need more support to help them through education and in preparation for life after school. An additional support need can be short or long term depending on the type of ASN.

An ASN can be due to:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Learning difficulties
  • Mental health issues
  • Autism
  • Adverse life experiences/ family circumstances
  • Emotional, social and behavioural difficulties

VSA provides specialist ASN and autism training for professionals. Click here to visit our training and development pages for further information.

All of our work with children and families is underpinned by:

Friends for Life Club - ASN
