Something new is happening at VSA’s Mercat Bookshop… and we’d love you to be part of it!
Mercat Moments is our brand-new series of community events designed to bring people together through stories, creativity and conversation. From inspiring author talks and lively book discussions to hands-on poetry and writing workshops, each event is a chance to pause, connect and discover something new.
Whether you’re a passionate reader, an aspiring writer, or have never picked up pen and paper before, Mercat Moments is your invitation to step into the bookshop, meet like-minded people and share in the magic of words.
Come along, pull up a chair, and enjoy a moment at the Mercat!
Join us for our very first Mercat Moments on Saturday 21st March to celebrate World Poetry Day, where we will be joined local poet R S Kendle for a morning of writing and connection.
Inspired by a series of beautiful sonnets from the VSA archives written in the 1930s, we’ll explore the themes of kindness, courage and hope woven through the history of VSA. Whether you are an aspiring writer or have never picked up pen and paper before, this session is for all abilities, bringing people together to hear stories from the archives and explore their own voices in a warm, supportive space.

While the event is free to attend, every sale goes towards supporting VSA’s vital services, so please have a browse of our wonderful selection of books and discover your next great read!
