Time to Live (TTL) Creative Breaks Funding 2026–2027

Time to Live (TTL) Creative Breaks Funding 2026–2027

Time to Live (TTL) is a fund run by Shared Care Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government, to support unpaid carers to take short breaks.

We are pleased to once again be the Aberdeenshire Delivery Partner, responsible for distributing this funding locally.

Funding Availability

  • Funding is expected to be available until 31 March 2027
  • If demand is high, the fund may close early
  • Applications may occasionally be paused to ensure awards are processed quickly
  • For 2026–2027, the maximum award is £300

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)

You can apply if you are an unpaid carer, meaning you provide care or support to a:

  • Partner
  • Family member
  • Friend or neighbour

who needs help due to a long‑term condition, disability, or mental/physical health issue.

Applicants must be:

  • An Adult Carer or Young Carer
  • Living in Aberdeenshire
  • An unpaid carer (you do not need to be registered with our service, but we encourage you to seek support)

Previous Funding

  • If you have received TTL Creative Break funding before, you must wait 12 months from the date of your last award before reapplying
  • Applications received before the 12‑month period has passed will not be considered
  • Due to high demand, not all applications can be guaranteed funding
  • Priority may be given to carers who have not received funding before

Additional Requirements

  • Carers must provide proof of purchase (e.g. receipts or invoices) showing the full amount spent
  • By applying, you agree that your information can be stored by Aberdeenshire Carers Service for reporting to Shared Care Scotland and the Scottish Government

What Is a TTL Creative Break?

The funding is designed to help carers:

  • Take a break
  • Recharge
  • Try something new
  • Step away from everyday caring routines

Examples include:

  • A short break or holiday
  • Gym or leisure memberships
  • Pampering or wellbeing activities
  • Cinema or theatre tickets
  • Meals out
  • Hobbies or creative materials

Carers can include the person they care for, but the main benefit must be for the unpaid carer.
