Update from VSA's Executive Management Team:

“VSA is one of Scotland's longest-established social care charities, supporting thousands of people across the north-east every day. We welcome feedback on our work and take our responsibilities to the people we serve, our staff, and the public very seriously.

Recent years have presented significant challenges for this organisation, and we are committed to addressing those challenges with transparency. VSA has cooperated, and will continue to cooperate fully, with all relevant authorities and parties in connection with any investigation or proceedings. We are committed to supporting the process appropriately and responsibly, while continuing to provide a much-needed public service across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, upholding the highest standards across the organisation, as reflected in our grades with The Care Inspectorate and His Majesty's Inspectorate of Education in Scotland (HMIE).

The charity exists to support some of the most vulnerable people in the north-east of Scotland. We have done so for over 150 years, and we remain committed to that mission.

All social care charities are facing financial pressures; VSA is not unique in this. We continue to assess costs wherever we can, ensuring the quality of care provided and making the best use of our properties in ensuring their sustainability. VSA is doing all it can, in collaboration with the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership, to maintain its services. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supported us in helping to boost our financial position last year, raising over £1M, and those who continue to do so. We will continue to fundraise and seek investment into our existing services.

The challenges of recent years have been real. VSA is an established social care charity providing the best care and education to the people it supports. The organisation has the full commitment of its leadership and Board, who continue to learn, strive to improve and ensure those who depend on us continue to receive the care and support they deserve.”
