Relief Support Worker - Ruthrieston House

Are you passionate about helping us provide the best of care to change the lives for those using our services?  If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are currently recruiting Relief Support Workers to work at our Ruthrieston House facility, working on an ad-hoc basis covering a mixture of early and late shifts.  As a team member you will be working alongside our permanent staff and you will similarly provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users. 

Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  We welcome applications from those who would like the opportunity to work within social care or those simply seeking a change of direction.

We also operate services in different locations across the city and by joining our relief pool; you will have access to a range of shifts to fit around other commitments. 

Successful applicants will be required to join the PVG Scheme; however VSA will cover any associated costs.

Waking Nights - Support Worker - Craigton Grove

Are you looking to be part of a team providing the highest standard of support for adults with learning disabilities, as well as attain a qualification during employment with career progression opportunities?

VSA Craigton Grove and associated housing is a Housing Support/Care at Home service for adults with learning disabilities.

Our team of dedicated care staff at the service help to ensure the tenants receive the best of care and we are currently looking to add to our team.  As a Support Worker in the service, the successful person will work to a rota basis over 7 days,  Shift hours:10pm -8am.

Any prior experience of working with adults with learning difficulties would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided. You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare if you do not already hold one.

Farm Support Worker (Relief) - Easter Anguston Farm (Peterculter)

VSA are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team at Easter Anguston Farm.

Easter Anguston is an operational farm which serves as a training facility for adults with learning difficulties and other additional support needs. Situated just west of Peterculter, it comprises 70 acres of arable land, used as a working farm, plus 20 acres of woodland.

Easter Anguston aims to provide meaningful and individualised training placements to adults with learning difficulties and other additional support needs. Trainees are supported by a skilled and experienced staff team to learn and to develop their knowledge and understanding of working in an agricultural and retail setting.

Strong emphasis is placed on developing personal, social, vocational, and land-based skills. Trainees work towards certificates in various areas including horticulture, livestock, arable farming, rural skills, catering, conservation and readiness for employment. Each trainee has a person-centred, outcome-focused training support plan which is collaboratively written and reviewed with a dedicated key worker.

As a relief worker you will work alonside a dedicated team to provide support to trainees to achieve specific outcomes while they are learning and working on the farm.  Any prior experience of working with adults with learning difficulties would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  A genuine passion for caring for others is essential as we strive to change lives of those within our care.

Support Worker (Part-time) - Northfield Lodge

VSA's Northfield Lodge, is a two storey property set in its own grounds in the Northfield area of the city, providing long-term residential placements for individuals with on-going and enduring mental health problems.  The service provides 24-hour support to 18 service users and each has their own room.  The main aim of the service is to promote independence and this is achieved by providing person-centred support based on each individual’s needs and requirements.

We currently require a part-time Support Worker (28 hours per week) to join our dedicated team of support staff who work tirelessly to deliver the best of care to those within the service.  In this rewarding role, you will provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users.  You will be part of a 4 week rolling rota, with an average of one sleep-in per week and an equal mix of early & late shifts. You will also be expected to work alternate weekends.  Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) if you do not already hold one.

Residential Care and Education Support Worker - Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter)

Linn Moor Residential School has a long history of providing specialist residential care and education for children and young adults with autism, related conditions such as social and communication difficulties, and learning disability.  We are committed to promoting the values of respect, dignity, participation and self-determination. This is achieved by the child/young person being at the centre of all we do. We respect and see each child/young adult as unique and while fully recognising their difficulties, we focus on their rights to have and enjoy an ordinary life.

Working across both the Education and Care services at our Linn Moor Campus, you will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students with additional support needs. An SCQF Level 7 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) and an HNC in Social Care would be beneficial but it is not essential at this stage (although you must be willing to work towards this or the Level 9 Residential Childcare Qualification). Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour. You must be willing to work flexibly in both care and education settings, recognising that a different skill set is required and appropriate in each to support the child/young person in their physical, psychological and emotional development.

We operate a variety of shifts including evenings / weekends as and when required and we can offer some free transport to/from the city centre for those working early/late shifts.  Also included is a Company Bus assisting with the commute to Linn Moor from the City Centre - Further information available from the Recruitment Team regarding this.
