Relief Support Worker (Waking Nights) - Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter)

VSA is currently looking for caring, considerate and motivated individuals to join our Night Shift Relief Pool at our Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter).  You will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students with additional support needs, supporting the night time care that is provided within the residential settings.

Linn Moor Campus is a unique multi-generational approach for individuals with learning disabilities and other additional support needs.  With recognition for our pioneering work with people with autism, our focus is on the development of meaningful life skills through an ordinary life approach and aspirational achievements for our children and young people, promoting personal fulfilment that will continue into adulthood.  Key to our ability to deliver for our Service Users is ensuring that we have a clear intention and strategy, supported and delivered by our committed and talented staff.

As a team member you will be working alongside our permanent staff and you will similarly provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users.  Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided. 

An SVQ Level III and an HNC in Social Care would be beneficial but it is not essential at this stage (although you must be willing to work towards this or the Level 9 Residential Childcare Qualification). Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour. Joining our relief pool provides an excellent opportunity to develop your practical skills in the care sector and to gain valuable experience.

We also operate services in different locations across the city and by joining our relief pool; you will have access to a range of shifts to fit around other commitments. 

In return for your hard work, commitment and positive approach, not only will you receive a huge amount of job satisfaction, we also offer a competitive hourly rate, paid holidays and paid training days. VSA also operate a bus service that can take you to and from our Linn Moor Campus at scheduled times.

Life Skills Practitioner & Support Worker (Waking Nights) - Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter)

We are currently seeking a Lifeskills Practitioner and a Support Worker (Waking Nights) to join our dedicated and enthusiastic staff team at our Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter).  You will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students and young adults with additional support needs, supporting the night time care that is provided within the residential settings, working on a four on, four off rolling rota.

Carers Contact Centre Worker

Closing date: 28th July 2018

Due to an internal transfer, we are currently seeking a motivated, supportive and caring individual to join our Carers team at Castle Street on a fixed term basis until April 2019.   

Working as part of a busy team, you will be responsible for responding to initial enquiries coming in to the service and providing information, advice and signposting to Carers professionals and members of the public. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating Carer information resources and participating in Quality Assurance processes.

You should possess a good standard of education and experience of dealing with telephone calls from individuals who may be distressed, together with sound IT and time management skills.

Support Worker, Maisie's Children's Centre

Are you passionate about supporting us to deliver the best of care to the children at Maisies Children’s Centre, our nursery which caters for both mainstream children and children with additional support needs up to 5 years old?  If so, this could be the perfect job for you.

Working on a full-time basis, 39 hours per week (Monday-Friday), you will be an integral part of our enthusiastic team of Support Workers, responsible for providing a caring, safe and secure environment in which children can learn to grow and develop through the medium of play and participation. You will possess sound interpersonal abilities and the capacity to establish effective working relationships with parents and professionals alike. You must be capable of maintaining records and respecting confidentiality and within the role you will undertake key worker duties and be able to plan and organise children’s learning and activities.  You will be confident and comfortable working to deadlines whilst paying close attention to detail and possess the ability to draft reports and be involved with assessments. 

An SVQ Level III in Childcare, Learning and Development qualification or equivalent, is desirable and you will have previous experience of working in a child care setting. Relevant training will be provided and supported as we take pride in providing a range of training opportunities to our staff.

Support Worker, Westerton Crescent

VSA's Westerton Crescent service was opened in February 1995. It is purpose-built to provide accommodation for nine adults with a history of severe and enduring mental health problems. They may also have a physical disability and require daily support from the staff team to motivate, empower and promote their self-esteem, while maintaining as much of their independence as possible.

We currently require a part-time Support Worker (28 hours per week) to join our dedicated team of support staff who work tirelessly to deliver the best of care to those within the service.  In this rewarding role, you will provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users.  You will be part of a 4 week rolling rota, with an average of one sleep-in per week and an equal mix of early & late shifts. You will also be expected to work alternate weekends.  Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) if you do not already hold one.
