Support Worker - Mental Health

Support Worker Nights Linn Moor

We are currently seeking a Support Worker (Waking Nights) to join our dedicated and enthusiastic staff team at our Linn Moor campus.  You will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students with additional support needs, supporting the night time care that is provided within the residential settings, working on a four on, four off rolling rota.

An SCQF Level 6 (or equivalent) and an HNC in Social Care would be beneficial but it is not essential at this stage (although you must be willing to work towards this or the Level 9 Residential Childcare Qualification). Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour.

Support Worker - Craigton

Craigton Grove and associated housing is a Housing Support/Care at Home service for adults with learning disabilities. The service supports five separate buildings with a total of 15 tenants with two living in the south side of Aberdeen city.  All properties are situated in Peterculter, within close vicinity of each other and although a number of the tenants are also trainees at Easter Anguston Farm, this is not a requirement of the housing.

Our team of dedicated care staff at the service help to ensure the residents receive the best of care and we are currently looking to add to our team.  As a Support Worker in the service, you will work a 39 hour week on a rota basis over 7 days, with a mixture of early and late shifts (including sleepovers for which an allowance is paid) and weekend work.

Any prior experience of working with adults with learning difficulties would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided. You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare if you do not already hold one.

Team Leader

Are you an experienced social care professional looking for career progression? This could be the opportunity for you.

Craigton Grove and associated housing is a Housing Support/Care at Home service for adults with learning disabilities. The service supports five separate buildings with a total of 14 tenants. With consistently high quality grades from Care Inspectorate reports, we strive to continue to provide the best of care to our residents and are now seeking a Team Leader to join our dynamic team.

This is a key role within the service where you will co-ordinate and contribute to the provision of an effective and professional service to meet the needs of our service users whilst monitoring the effective use of staffing resources. To be considered, you should possess an SCQF Level 7 in Social Services and Healthcare (or other comparable qualification). You will have previous experience in the provision of care and of co-ordinating activities within the workplace. In addition, you will have a working knowledge of the SSSC Codes of Practice, have the ability to work on your own initiative and be a good communicator and organiser. You will work to a rolling rota over 7 days which will include a mixture of early shifts, late shifts and weekends as well as sleepovers, also on a rota basis, for which an allowance is paid.

Relief General Assistant - Ruthrieston House

As we seek to deliver on our mission to provide the best of care, VSA requires Relief General Assistants to work at our Ruthrieston House Care Home.

Ruthrieston House is a residential care home for older people. It is located in the west end of Aberdeen. Ruthrieston House has 41 spacious individual bedrooms with en-suite facilities, and provides 24-hour long-term care for older people.

As a Relief General Assistant you will join our relief pool, where you will provide support and assistance in the kitchen and dining room and carry out a range of housekeeping tasks.  You should also possess some basic food preparation skills, a keen eye for detail and be comfortable carrying out routine procedures according to specified work standards.

Working on our relief pool offers you the flexibility to pick up shifts to work around other commitments you may have.  If you want to help us to change lives, we would love to hear from you.

Residential Social Worker/ Risk Assessor - Richmondhill House

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Social Worker to join our dynamic team at Richmondhill House on a Part Time basis. In these challenging and rewarding roles, you will assist with the provision of residential support services for vulnerable disadvantaged families where there are identified child protection issues.   You will therefore have relevant experience of working with children, families and vulnerable disadvantaged individuals together with an awareness of child protection issues.  In addition, you will hold a relevant qualification in social work, e.g. Diploma/Degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.

This unique role, will also require you to complete enhanced duties, including the completion of Risk Assessments prior to families moving in and some supervisory duties. 


As a good communicator, you will have the ability to work independently using your own initiative and be able to deal with challenging behaviour.  Note that sleepovers, for which an allowance is paid, will be required.
