Teacher - Additional Support Needs (Linn Moor Campus)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Permanent ASN Specialist Teacher to join our Peterculter Campus at a pivotal time in the school’s development.   We are offering the chance to be at the forefront of shaping the school‘s curriculum in an ethos of continual improvement and aspiration.  

Our School:            

Linn Moor Residential School has a long history of providing specialist residential care and education for children and young adults with autism, related conditions such as social and communication difficulties, and learning disabilities. Set within a scenic rural environment in Royal Deeside, and within easy reach of all the facilities of Aberdeen; we equip children and young people with the skills they need to live exceptional lives. We promote learning opportunities in a range of resource rich environments where people are supported and encouraged to develop transferrable academic, vocational and life skills. 

Our highly skilled education team work collaboratively alongside our equally talented care team to provide a comprehensive, holistic education program for our children and young people.  Using the principles of Getting it Right for Every Child and the Curriculum for Excellence our children and young people are supported through their education in a way that embraces their complex and at times challenging behaviour.  To provide an outstanding team we ensure our staff are trained and supported in a range of approaches, including: Understanding Autism and its impact, Total communication (TEACCH, PECS & Makaton & the use of technology), and BSS (Behavioural Support Strategies).  We use these tools and approaches among others to support and educate the children and young people living at Linn Moor enabling them to engage in a programme of continual learning.

Relief Support Worker - Care at Home

VSA has an exciting opportunity for new team members to join us in our Care at Home Service.   Providing support to individuals in their own home setting.        We are actively looking for enthusiastic, caring and personable candidates to join us working within the Hilton and Torry areas.

This role offers fully flexible working opportunities, with shifts available from 7am and latest shift finishing at 9pm.  Rotas are reviewed on a fortnightly basis, we will be taking the lead from successful candidates on the hours/ days they are available to work.

As this role involves travel mileage or Bus Fares will be reimbursed.

Residential Care and Education Support Worker - Linn Moor Campus (Peterculter)

Linn Moor Campus is a unique multi-generational approach to community-based care for individuals with learning disabilities and other additional support needs, in a residential setting. The campus its self is situated on beautiful grounds allowing our service users the freedom to enjoy the outdoors. With UK wide recognition for our pioneering work with people with autism, our focus is on the development of meaningful life skills and personal fulfilment for the children and young adults we support. If successful you would be joining a large team of enthusiastic support workers with a wealth of experience from all different backgrounds.

As a Support Worker you will work to a 4 week rolling rota where you will be required to work a variety of shifts including early/evening and weekend shifts.

Working across both the Education and Care services at our Linn Moor Campus, you will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students with additional support needs. An SCQF Level 7 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) and an HNC in Social Care would be beneficial but it is not essential at this stage (although you must be willing to work towards this or the Level 9 Residential Childcare Qualification). Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour. You must be willing to work flexibly in both care and education settings, recognising that a different skill set is required and appropriate in each to support the child/young person in their physical, psychological and emotional development.

Support Worker Nights, Broomhill Park

Are you passionate about helping us provide the best of care for those using our services?  Are you interested in working within close proximity to Aberdeen city centre for an organisation that takes pride in supporting the professional development of its staff? 

We are currently recruiting a Support Worker - Nights at our Broomhill Park facility for 20 hours per week (working x 2 nights from 7 ).  Joining our dynamic team, you will provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users to ensure they receive the best of care.  

Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) if you do not already hold one.  

With consistently high grades from the Care Inspectorate, Broomhill Park is a fantastic service helping to change lives.  If you want to be part of something special, we would love to hear from you. It is a prerequisitive for employees to attend  three full day First Aid Training for this role. Training is conducted during the working day.
