Part-time Support Worker (Nights) - Crosby House

Are you passionate about helping us provide the best of care for those using our services?  Are you interested in working within close proximity to Aberdeen city centre for an organisation that takes pride in supporting the professional development of its staff? 

We are currently recruiting a Support Worker (Nights) to be based at Crosby House on a part-time basis working 20 hours per week.   At VSA, we strive to deliver the best of care in order to change the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our city and our services consistently receive high grades from the Care Inspectorate. As part of our front-line care workforce, you will provide a professional, caring and effective service to those within our care.  In return, you will be provided with extensive training opportunities and as an accredited SVQ centre, we can provide support to help gain qualifications. 

Any prior experience would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent) if you do not already hold one.  These posts will involve working to a rota over 7 days.

About the Role:

As part of our plans to develop the campus, we are now recruiting for a newly created post of Rota Co-ordinator. This role will support the efficient and safe running of the staffing provision across the campus as the focal point for scheduling the care and education rota, ensuring appropriate cover is in place to enable us to deliver the best of care. You will have an overview of the entire rota at our Linn Moor Campus and will assume responsibility for the advance scheduling of shifts to ensure that contractual and regulatory requirements are met. You will also be the primary contact for our relief pool of workers at the campus and will work closely with our Recruitment team to ensure that we are suitably resourced.

This will be a busy and fast-paced role where the ability to adapt to changing situations will be essential. You must possess the ability to think logically and will be an effective problem-solver who can respond calmly under pressure. You should be a sound communicator and willing to contribute positively to our fantastic team at Linn Moor.

Waking Nights - Support Worker - Craigton Grove

Are you looking to be part of a team providing the highest standard of support for adults with learning disabilities, as well as attain a qualification during employment with career progression opportunities?

VSA Craigton Grove and associated housing is a Housing Support/Care at Home service for adults with learning disabilities.

Our team of dedicated care staff at the service help to ensure the tenants receive the best of care and we are currently looking to add to our team.  As a Support Worker in the service, the successful person will work to a rota basis over 7 days,  Shift hours:10pm -8am.

Any prior experience of working with adults with learning difficulties would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided. You must however be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare if you do not already hold one.

Farm Support Worker (Relief) - Easter Anguston Farm (Peterculter)

VSA are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team at Easter Anguston Farm.

Easter Anguston is an operational farm which serves as a training facility for adults with learning difficulties and other additional support needs. Situated just west of Peterculter, it comprises 70 acres of arable land, used as a working farm, plus 20 acres of woodland.

Easter Anguston aims to provide meaningful and individualised training placements to adults with learning difficulties and other additional support needs. Trainees are supported by a skilled and experienced staff team to learn and to develop their knowledge and understanding of working in an agricultural and retail setting.

Strong emphasis is placed on developing personal, social, vocational, and land-based skills. Trainees work towards certificates in various areas including horticulture, livestock, arable farming, rural skills, catering, conservation and readiness for employment. Each trainee has a person-centred, outcome-focused training support plan which is collaboratively written and reviewed with a dedicated key worker.

As a relief worker you will work alonside a dedicated team to provide support to trainees to achieve specific outcomes while they are learning and working on the farm.  Any prior experience of working with adults with learning difficulties would be welcome but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.  A genuine passion for caring for others is essential as we strive to change lives of those within our care.

Seasonal Cafe Assistant

An opportunity has arisen for Seasonal Cafe Assistants with Easter Anguston Farm. This opportunity offers a role of 25 - 30 Hours Monday to Friday (9 - 3pm however flexible). We are also recruiting Relief Cafe Assistants (x2) offering fully flexible working hours.

To provide a quality and friendly catering and front of house service to customers and visitors to the farm alike throughout the summer opening times and at quieter periods potentially working with the trainees on some of the farm activities

  • Provide a professional, friendly and efficient front of house service to all customers and visitors including schools and corporate groups visiting Easter Anguston Farm.
  • Be prepared where needed to work with trainees with learning difficulties attending the farm as part of a group activity on various activities
  • Prepare and serve a range of light snacks, soups, cakes, hot and cold drinks etc to all visitors
  • Contribute to effective planning and re ordering by taking an active role in the daily running including inventory, basic stock control etc
  • Commercial till sales and credit card transactions in both Café and adjoining Shop as required
  • Set and clear tables in the café and garden area as required
  • Assist with kitchen duties, washing up, keeping machinery clean and tidy etc
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the general café building internal facilities including cleaning cafe floors if need, recharging dispensers etc
  • Be aware of health and safety in the work environment at all times and our duty of care to the attending trainees
  • Any other reasonable duties within the post-holders capabilities

We are currently seeking a Support Worker (Waking Nights) to join our dedicated and enthusiastic staff team at our Linn Moor Campus.  You will help to provide a quality service to meet the needs of our students with additional support needs, supporting the night time care that is provided within the residential settings, working on a four on, four off rolling rota.

An SCQF Level 6 (or equivalent) and an HNC in Social Care would be beneficial but it is not essential at this stage (although you must be willing to work towards this or the Level 9 Residential Childcare Qualification). Ideally you should have some experience of working with children and/or young adults with autism / learning difficulties and have the ability to engage/relate to them through effective communication skills and the ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour.
