Make a difference in your community
Update: 6th April 2020
Please note that at this time all volunteering at VSA is suspended to help protect the vulnerable people we support. We have been truly humbled by the volume of applications from people in the community looking to help others.
At the moment we would ask everyone to follow the UK and Scottish Governments advice and please stay home, to protect yourselves, your loved one (s) and others.
Our team and a small group of volunteers are working hard to support people across Aberdeen who are isolated, alone and vulnerable and are living in their own homes. Our top priority at this time, however, is to provide critical care and support to the vulnerable children and adults who stay in our residential sites across the city.
If you can support us, then please donate via our online COVID-19 appeal. Please visit our fundraising donate now pages for further information about how your donation can help us change lives.
Thank you for all your help and understanding.
As the only Scottish charity to be awarded two Voluntary Service Awards by Her Majesty the Queen in 2015, VSA understands the difference volunteers can make to people’s lives. We depend on the amazing support our volunteers contribute to the services we provide. Without this, we wouldn’t be able to ensure that all the individuals we look after really do receive the best of care.
In recognition of this, we invest heavily in our volunteers. As a VSA volunteer you will become a well-supported, highly valued and hugely important part of our team. We take volunteering seriously and fully understand the dedication and commitment it takes to give up your personal time, and we continually strive to make the volunteering experience as rewarding, exciting and worthwhile as possible.
Without your support some of the most vulnerable, isolated and under-privileged members of our local communities could miss out on valuable social, life and educational opportunities.
Our volunteers really do make a difference and you can, too. It might just be an hour a week socialising with the residents at one of our older people’s care homes, helping out at our Easter Anguston Farm café and shop, taking a shift at the Mercat Bookshop, helping out at one of our fundraising events, assisting with an outing for the young people at the Linn Moor Campus, or spending some time with our support services to make sure all the administrative tasks are done. It all makes a huge difference!
If you really do want to make a difference for some of our local communities most vulnerable, please fill in our online expression of interest form or get in touch to discuss our current opportunities.
