Developing Academic, Life and Vocational Skills
Linn Moor Residential School is set within a scenic rural environment in Royal Deeside, and within easy reach of all the facilities of Aberdeen.
We equip children and young people with the skills they need to live exceptional lives. We promote learning opportunities in a range of resource rich environments where people are supported and encouraged to develop transferrable academic, vocational and life skills.
Our highly skilled staff team have a wealth of experience in supporting children and young people who may display complex and challenging behaviours and the principles of Getting it Right for Every Child and the Curriculum for Excellence are the framework for our work. Our staff are trained and supported in a range of approaches, including: Understanding Autism and its impact, TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children) and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), IABA (Institute of Applied Behavioural Analysis) and BSS (Behavioural Support Strategies). We use these tools and approaches among others to support the children and young people living at Linn Moor to engage in a programme of continuous learning.
We offer a range of flexible personalised placements to meet the needs of children and their families. Our placement packages range from term time only of 40 weeks per year to full time of 52 weeks per year residential education and day education placements. Individualised packages can also be negotiated; we can also offer residential only placements where young people are successfully attending education elsewhere. Again this can be offered from 40 to 52 weeks per year.
