Do you have a personal (not professional) experience of using a care service or are a close relative, friend or carer of someone who uses a care service? Then you might be interested in becoming a Volunteer Inspector with the Care Inspectorate!

The Care Inspectorate involvement scheme is not a route to employment.  We are not looking for people whose interest in care is professional. So, if you are working in care or social work or looking for a job with the Care Inspectorate, our involvement scheme is not for you.

Inspection Volunteers  go out on inspections with our inspectors and speak to people using the service and their friends and family members to gather information on how the service is performing. Our volunteer inspectors will then feed back to the care service with our inspector. All of our volunteer inspectors are fully trained and we provide support and advice on a regular basis. We would hope that you could participate in at least 6 inspections a year but many of our volunteers do much more than this.

You can decide how you want to get involved, either by coming along to the meetings or communicating with us by email, post or phone. Travelling expenses will be paid for by us.
