Real VSA stories from real people

Joe's Story

Joe came to Linn Moor in 2011. He was an anxious young boy, who was struggling to cope with life generally. The busy, noisy world around Joe compelled him to seek out sensory experiences at every opportunity.

The improvement

During his time at Linn Moor School, and with the support of his family, Joe has grown into a much more confident young man who continues to learn the skills that will support him into adulthood.

Joe is developing self-care skills and showing much more independence. He likes to go out into the community and to experience activities that are available to other young people of his age. He is now able to go out and sit through a meal or snack with his peers, go shopping in busy supermarkets, use public transport and enjoy going to the sports centre to use the trampoline. He loves the outdoor learning opportunities at Linn Moor and particularly likes sitting around the campfire.

The future

The progress that Joe has made in his time at Linn Moor has meant that the world has opened up for him and he welcomes new experiences and opportunities.
