St. Aubin's Project

Not so long ago, many people with mental health problems were consigned to long stay beds in hospital settings, largely forgotten by society in general. In 1987, the St Aubin's Project set out to change that situation.

The St. Aubin's Project provides sheltered accommodation and support to adults with a history of mental illness, supporting independent living and offering a way back to community based life.

With a range of care settings to suit different needs, and an outreach service supporting those moving on from the project, St. Aubin's is able to help people claim back the kind of life most of us take for granted.

Who Are We?

The St. Aubin's Project and was set up in 1987 to provide a range of community based services for people with mental health problems. The Project is part of VSA’s Adult & Community Services.

Who Are We For?

The St. Aubin's Project offers accommodation and support to adults who have experienced severe and longstanding mental health problems.

They may have spent considerable periods in hospital care and require supported accommodation within the community.

Alternatively they may be experiencing problems living at home and require more supportive accommodation or a period of rehabilitation within a supportive environment.

What Do We Provide?

We have a variety of resources within the St. Aubin's Project.

Our house at South Anderson Drive offers rehabilitative support to people who seek the skills and confidence required to live more independently.

Our Outreach Support Service provides flexible support to a number of people living in their own tenancies within Aberdeen.

We have several units which offer long-term accommodation. Two units provide barrier free accommodation and have 24 hour, waking, staff cover. One has been specially designed to offer individual bed-sit accommodation, with communal facilities, to people who have physical disabilities as well as mental health problems.

A qualified social worker provides a support and advocacy service to residents of St. Aubin's and to all our outreach clients.

An important part of what we can offer in all our care homes is provided through our special amenity fund, which is money specifically raised for the direct benefit of our service users. Staff at our homes actively fundraise by holding Family Fun Days and Coffee Mornings to help provide outings and activities for residents. Donations from the general public are most welcome.

If you would like to find out how you can help support the Project, then please contact a member of the fundraising team.
