Quality Assurance

In October 2003, BSS was accredited as an organisation to provide training in physical interventions by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (Bild). In March 2007 BSS achieved re-accreditation by Bild which will run until March 2010. Further details of the Bild accreditation scheme and the service provided by BSS, can be found at www.bild.org.uk.

BSS has adopted the Bild Code of Practice for the use of physical interventions 2nd edition May 2006. All commissioning organisations and BSS Instructors are expected to adhere to the Bild Code.

BSS also expect commissioning organisations to abide by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers and Employers and the relevant National Care Standards, developed by Scottish Ministers and audited by the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care.
