Young carers to enjoy special fun day
![]() VSA Young Carers' Project, in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, have organised a special fun day for young carers at the Richard Donald Suite, Pittodrie Stadium on Saturday 13th June from 2.30pm until 5.30pm. The event will include a variety of games, a Big Brother-style diary room, arts and crafts and a disco. Mary Drever, Project Leader, VSA Young Carers' Project said, "We're delighted to be able to hold this fun day, supported by Aberdeen City Council. Young carers from the city will be there and those from our projects in North Aberdeenshire are being transported into the city so that they can enjoy the fun too. We'd like to invite all young carers to come along, wherever they live and whether or not they are connected to our projects. It will give them the chance to make new friends and to have a fun afternoon." Councillor Gordon Leslie, lead councillor for health and social care, will attend the event, and said, "This is a great opportunity for young carers to let their hair down. These are young people who take on a great deal of responsibility for a loved one, showing maturity way beyond their years. As a result of this huge responsibility these youngsters can sometimes miss out on opportunities and experiences that are taken for granted by their peers. The Young Carers Project does a great job offering help, advice and organising events like this to support these wonderful young people." Tickets are free and available from the Reception at VSA, 38 Castle Street, Aberdeen, tel 01224 212021, or contact Mary Drever on 01224 358565 or Julie Thomson on 01224 538052.
