Christmas Card Competition Winners Announced

The winning entries in VSA's 2007 Photography competition have been announced.

The competition, which was launched in January and sponsored by the Evening Express, aimed to find the perfect two photographs for VSA's 2007 Christmas Cards. The cards are sold to raise money for individuals and families, young and old living in our local community.

Entrants were split into two age groups - 11 to 17 and over 18, and were given total creative freedom with their photographs. Norman Harper, aged 58 of Aberdeen, won the over 18 age group with his photo of a wintry River Don at Persley, while 16 year old Greg Spice from Essex won the under 18 age group with his photo of a frosty rose.

The lucky winners receive a prize of GBP300 from the Evening Express together with the opportunity to shadow an Evening Express photographer for a day. They will also receive photography equipment from John Lewis and an enlarged print of their winning photo, courtesy of Jessops in Bridge Street, framed by Peacock Visual Arts in Castle Street, both in Aberdeen.

The two winning photos will be reproduced on VSA's Christmas cards which will go on sale in the autumn to benefit VSA's wide range of caring services. Anyone who would like to receive information about purchasing the cards can contact Alana Donald, Fundraising Officer on 01224 358619, email Alana.Donald@vsa.org.uk, who will be happy to hold their details on a waiting list and send out information when the cards are ready to go on sale.
