Belated Burns Supper in Somerset kick starts fundraising Appeal for School

Stuart Le Gassick of aAIM is hosting a Belated Burns Supper at his estate in Somerset on Saturday 24th March in aid of VSA's Linn Moor School, which is based in Aberdeen.

Light-hearted rivalry is expected from the Scottish and English contingencies among the guests who have been invited to attend this special event, at which supporters Fiona Kennedy, Peter Mitchell and Mark Stephen have so kindly offered their time to undertake the traditional Burns Supper ceremony.

Fiona Kennedy will be Mistress of Ceremonies, entertaining the audience with her charm and delightful Scottish songs, while Aberdeen Press and Journal's Peter Mitchell will support her as Master of Ceremonies and BBC Radio Scotland's Mark Stephen will perform a stirring rendition of Tam O' Shanter.

With a traditional haggis supper prepared by English celebrity chef Brian Turner, and the presence of special guest of honour Sir Alex Ferguson - a keen supporter of VSA - this promises to be a fantastic high profile event to launch Linn Moor School's fundraising Appeal.

Linn Moor School is an excellent residential and day facility based in Aberdeen, with a friendly, relaxed and calm atmosphere, where children and young people with complex additional support needs from all over the UK receive first class education and care. All the students have severe learning difficulties, many demonstrate challenging behaviour and most are further challenged by autism, but Linn Moor truly believe that their needs should not become barriers to their potential to learn.

The School's aim is to provide a safe, secure and enabling environment where students can live, learn and achieve their maximum individual potential. It recognises and promotes individual ability, encourages the creativity of students, and makes learning fun!

VSA are looking at ways to improve the facilities at Linn Moor to ensure that they can continue to offer the highest standards of residential care, education and fun activities to the students. VSA is delighted that Stuart Le Gassick has committed to helping kick start the Appeal through the organisation of this Burns Supper.
