Making a will is so important. If you don't, there is no control over who inherits your property or possessions. The law will decide and the people or charities that you would like to benefit may get nothing. It may also put additional pressure on your family or prove much more costly than if you had arranged your affairs properly before your death.
Read our Step-By-Step Guide to Making a Will
Making a will is normally inexpensive, but is a legal document and needs to be written properly. Your solicitor can give you proper guidance if you would like to leave a gift to a charity in your will.

Legacies of all kinds ensure that VSA's vital services for individuals and families, young and old are maintained and improved.
Some different types of legacy and example wordings
Recent legacies made it possible to:
- Build VSA AgeCare Aberdeen's Broomhill Park, an innovative 'housing with care' unit and Activity Centre for older people
- Purchase new Outdoor Play Equipment for VSA's Linn Moor School
- Develop and expand VSA's services to help over 20,000 people in Aberdeen
Without the boost given by legacies many of our new developments and projects would not have taken place.
Please consider leaving a legacy, whether large or small, to VSA or any of our services, namely Aberdeen Children's Society, AgeCare Aberdeen, Easter Anguston Farm, Linn Moor School, Richmondhill House, St Aubin's Project or VSA's Carers Services in your Will.

It is good to think that even when you are gone you are still helping support the great work charities undertake to help local people in the city that we love.
A legacy is lasting, leaving something for you to be remembered by. In addition you can save inheritance tax by leaving to charity. You can help charities to continue their excellent work by leaving them a gift in your will, which can make a major difference to the lives of thousands of people in our city.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
