Glenmhor

Glenmhor offers longer term accommodation and support to adults who have experienced severe and enduring mental ill health.

Glenmhor was opened in 1992 and provides accommodation on a long term or permanent basis for eight people, for whom fully independent, community based living is not a realistic alternative. The accommodation provided is a former Bed & Breakfast located in the West-end of the city.

Facilities

The communal facilities comprise of a lounge, dining area and kitchen. The 8 bedrooms are located over three floors; access to bedrooms on the first and second floor is by stair. We are unable to offer separate communal smoking/non-smoking facilities because of the physical layout of the current building.

Expectations

Residents are expected and encouraged to achieve as high a level of independence as possible, caring for their own room, personal laundry and taking part in the general upkeep of the communal areas of the house. There is a small Staff team available to support residents in developing these skills.

One cooked meal is provided daily, with residents being expected to budget, shop for and cook their other meals, with staff support where required. The unit has sleep-in staff overnight.

Local Amenities

There is a G.P surgery directly across the road. There is a pharmacy and corner shop almost next door. Mannofield shops, which includes a Boots, Somerfield, an optician and Lloyds TSB Bank, are just a ten-minute walk from Glenmhor along Great Western Road.

Location

There is a bus stop outside the front door for buses going into Aberdeen. The Numbers of the services are 18, 18x, 19 and 24. There are also several hotels close by.

Holburn West Church is a five-minute walk along the road and there are several other places of worship close by.
