South Aberdeenshire Carers Project
The South Aberdeenshire Carers Project and the South Aberdeen Young Carers Project are based in the Crossroads Carers Centre in Stonehaven. The area covered by the project stretches from Braemar in the west to Portlethen in the east and St Cyrus in the south.
Aine Stewart joined the Project as Carers Support Worker on a part-time basis during the Spring of 2002 and since June 2003 she has become full-time. Aine previously worked full-time in the Aberdeen Carers Centre and has experience of working with adults with learning disabilities. Recently, funding was made available which enabled the employment of part-time admin support.
The Project has drop-in sessions in Ballater on the first Tuesday of every month from 10am - 12noon, held in the Library.
The St Cyrus Parents’ Support Group is held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. This is a group for parents of children who have special needs (contact Aine for further details).
There is also a Parents’ Support Group running in Stonehaven, which is on the last Thursday of every month at the Invercarron Resource Centre, 7.30pm - 10pm. The group is very informal and relaxed. We occasionally invite speakers along or hit the town for a bite to eat.
The Former Carers’ Group meet in Banchory for lunch on the 2nd Friday of every month. We meet at Scott Skinners Restaurant 12.30pm - 2.30pm for a nice relaxing afternoon.
New members are welcome to all of the above groups. However, if you feel that they do not meet your needs, then please contact Aine as she will be delighted to discuss any other possibilities or ideas that you may have.
If you would like to find out more about the South Aberdeen Carers Project please contact Aine on 01569 766714 or email office@stonehaven.carers.net. Please do leave a message as Aine is often out and about and messages are picked up regularly.
